Graphene can be used in textile antibacterial field

The antibacterial properties of graphene were first confirmed in 2010 by the Shanghai Institute of Applied Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Graphene is a new type of nanomaterial that has been assembled into a macroscopic fiber structure and directly prepared from graphene. It is the thinnest, strongest, and most conductive and thermally conductive material found. Foreign experts have revealed the mechanism by which graphene destroys bacterial cell membranes. Compared with traditional inorganic and organic antibacterial agents, graphene has no cytotoxicity and is more suitable for direct contact with human skin. However, due to the poor spinnability and high cost of graphene fibers, its development in the textile field has been limited to some extent.

In order to effectively combine graphene and cotton fiber with special antibacterial properties, domestic colleges and universities have tried to firmly combine the carboxyl group, hydroxyl group, carbonyl group and epoxy group of graphene oxide with cotton fiber, and then firmly combine graphene by reduction. The pure cotton fabric can effectively prevent the cotton fabric from breeding bacteria in a humid environment, and prepare a high-tech, high-antibacterial cotton fabric, expanding the development of graphene in the textile industry.

Through the integration of technology and graphene, the textile industry has broadened the application fields of new textile materials and achieved the perfect combination of functionality and technology. This shows that the textile industry is not a sunset industry and a backward industry.
